SORTING ACTIVITIES

SORTING IS OBSERVING,COMPARING AND BEING ABLE TO TELL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OBJECTS.IT HELPS WITH THEIR THINKING PROCESS!

I believe theres lots of things that can be found around the house that can be presented to the child to sort.i try to focus on 4 main points when i do sorting with my boys!

  1. colour
  2. shape
  3. size
  4. clasification

i have to admit though that some of the activity i present to them get rejected lol because they find them boring.which can be frustrating and after doing some reading i learnt that theres no point forcing an activity onto a childif he aint interested.you wouldnt try to fit a shoe by force if it was too small would you?nope.

These are some of the sorting activities u might want to try with your early learners.

1.SORTING POMPOMS!

simple activity which involves placing coloured pompoms into a cupcake tin.they can sort them according to their colours.they can either use their hands or a salad tong to hold the pom pom.Image

2.FOOD SORTING/FRUITS AND VEGIES!

You can either use real food here or the plastic play ones.real food is more real life than plastic ones since they can touch real and feel the texture of the certain fruits and vegies.they can also smell different types of fruits and tell the difference!on my side i prefer using the plastic ones since my toddler will just munch them up lol!Image

3.SORTING THE CUTLERY!

bring out those kitchen cutlery to the table and let the kids sort the forks butter knives and the spoons.you can purchase those plastic ones at the poundshops as they dont cost much and keep them for that purpose only or u can still use the kitchen ones.Image

still got 7 more to share with you but unfortunately i have to head off to bed!in sha Allah will be back soon!!!

remember the oppressed muslims in ur dua’s!!

ASALAM ALAIKUM.
